(1).(1).(1000-1300)THE MIDDLE AGES- The middle ages were a time of wars and classes. The crusades took place over the middle ages and fighters were people ruled by the king. The king would protect the people and in return the people or peasants would fight in the kings battles. The fighters ranged in age from 5-50 and some even older. The point of the crusades was to try and take back the Holy Land from the Muslims. These wars lasted from 1095-1270 and we never got back our land. The children's crusade was the most unusual one of all. The children believed that god would part the Mediterranean Sea and they would be able to pass through. Most of them died from the walk through the sea. The only ones who lived were the ones who turned back. The crusades were also the only war that was fought over the holy lands. Although the Catholics never retrieved there holy lands. The Muslims fought very hard and were able to keep their land. Kings ruled the Middle Ages. There were many classes though King-Lord-Knight-serf. The king would give the Knights, lords and serfs protection. And in return they would fight the kings battles. The serfs would never get training because the king wanted them to die and not take up land. There were many punishments to in the Middle Ages. Such as beheading, Stretcher, spike chair, mace and hot coal. The beheading was when a guillotine could chop of their heads. The stretcher would be used to stretch out your body until it gets ripped into two. He spike chair had sharp spikes on it and they would put a heavy weight on you until you bleed to death. And the mace was just used to crush your head. They would fill up a pit with hot coals and throw you into it. They would enjoy seeing your body melt. (2).(1002-1687)Age of exploration- In the age of exploration there were many great people that discovered the world. Such as Christopher Columbus, DA gamma, Leif Ericson, Marco Polo and Magellan. They all played a major part in the millennium. If Columbus didn't discover America we wouldn't live here and the world would be over crowded. Because of these explorers the different ages. The reason Indians are called Indians is because Columbus thought he was in India and he gave the Indians that name. Magellan was the first to go around the known world. And DA gamma went around the Cape of Good Hope as well as Dias, which had to turn back. They were all looking for an easier route to India for spices until the Suez Canal was built. The easy route to India was never found. The spices were brought to Europe weekly though. Marco polo was also the explorer who brought back pasta. The spices were very expensive so the food was usually bad. Then when explorers brought it back it would be less expensive. The leader of the country. The spices were sold for reasonable prices. This made there foods taste better and more desirable to eat. (3). (1260-1557) Renaissance and reformation- here were many famous people in the renaissance. Most of them were artists. Their artists are mainly from Italy. These artists were brilliant and knew almost everything. There was nothing they couldn't paint or sculpt. And when they do it looks amazing. Their arts have been well preserved over the years. Except for a few. Many of the most famous works are from DA Vinci. His most famous works were the last super and the Mona Lisa. These works took him most of his life. He was also an inventor. He tried to make flying machines and other inventions beyond his time. DA Vinci would also write his words like mirror writing. The reason of him doing these is because he didn't want anyone to know what he made because people wanted his ideas. They never figured it out. In the renaissance they're as also Galileo a great thinker of those times. He was able to prove the heliocentric theory. He invented the telescope, which made far away things look larger than they were. People used the telescope to study astronomy it was one of the first looking glasses. Copernicus first thought the theory from the late years of the age of exploration. When Copernicus tried to prove his theory no one believed him. Another important part f the renaissance is people coming back from the crusades they started to make shops on the side of the roads. Because they have nom fear of the Vikings anymore they don't need the kings protection. all of the people went out and started to learn more and go to school. Then the other ages became a time of intelligence. And there was also martin luther. He was the one who posted the 95 theses. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
